PARABOLA HOUSE

Parabola House identity

The name became the form: a parabola describes the architecture and gives the house its own visual language.

HOW IT CAME TOGETHER /

A house that has seen another time

This is a constructivist residential quarter built in 1927–1929. It was a singular place and a high-risk brief: a reconstruction without a construction pit, aggressive infrastructure, family-oriented packaging or familiar mass-market triggers.

The main trap was turning it into yet another ‘loft-style residential complex’. The name had to grow out of the place itself instead of merely styling its history.

Architects once called the ensemble’s two principal buildings ‘mad parabolas’ for their unusual curvature that breaks the expected geometry. That form revealed the project’s essence.

After many iterations, the philosophy itself became the name. A parabola means refusing the average life, choosing a path that is not straight and having the courage to be noticed.

The building’s form revealed the idea.
